Star Wars Jet Takes First Flight

Star Wars is always in the news for one reason or another. Decades after the first film was released, Star Wars is still as popular as ever and even attracts a younger generation. Another thing Star Wars fans can get excited about is the Star Wars Jet Liner from All Nippon Airways. It recently took its first flight from Haneda, Japan to Vancouver, Canada.

R2-D2 Ana Jet made its debut after fans have been waiting for months for takeoff. It is a 787-9 Dreamliner and everything from the inside out is Star Wars themed. There was a fan appreciation flight a day before the jet liner took its first international flight. Hundreds of fans were there dressed in their favorite characters and were able to experience the jet before anyone else for a short flight across Haneda.

In attendance for the fan flight were Storm Troopers, Chewbacca, a handful of C-3PO’s and padawana. Just like the name entails, the outside of the jet has a R2-D2 theme and so does the inside with seatbacks that have coverings of the character and also napkins and cups with the famous character.

For the next month, the main route of the R2-D2 Ana Jet will be from Narita, Japan to San Jose, California. The flight paths will start to expand in December when the jet starts to head from Haneda to Seattle, Sydney, Jakarta, Beijing, Munich and Paris.

It is amazing that the jet will fly across the world and give so many worldwide fans the chance to board the exclusive flight. The office website says it chose the droid R2-D2 as the main theme character and its face of the jet because R2-D2 is known to “never fail to complete his mission and surprise us with his clever solutions.”
