Focus on Your Breathing
Believe it or not, the way you breathe plays a large role in your health, especially when it comes to how you feel. You can actually control your breathing to help calm yourself down. This is especially helpful when you feel an anxiety attack coming on, or you know you will be put in a stressful situation. This works well with meditation and can also be practiced in yoga.
You need to burn off your energy and take the edge off. The best way to do this is by working out. Not only is it important for your health to be active, but physical activity will help you release any stress and anxious feelings. Get in the habit of getting your heart rate up and exercising for at least 30 minutes a day. This can also be used with controlled breathing and will help you with your stress.
In addition to exercising, you need to eat healthy! What you put in your body is obviously going to impact your mood. Eat a balanced diet full of fruits, vegetables, protein and healthy fats. Some foods can trigger your anxiety, so try to avoid those and remember to always enjoy sweets in moderation, as sweets can often provoke anxious feelings. When your body is happy, you’re happy and will be able to control your anxiety more effectively.
In addition to controlling your breath, going to yoga classes, exercising and eating healthy, you can also avoid anxiety by setting up helpful daily routines. This is extremely helpful if you tend to get anxious before certain events or activities or have issues sleeping. Start with meditating, using essential oils and playing calming music. Get into a relaxing routine that you can practice before an anxiety provoking activity or before bed.
